On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Arab states have reaffirmed their support for Palestinian rights. The United Nations first established this day of observance in 1977. The day expresses global support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. These include their right to self-determination, national independence, and sovereignty. It also supports the right of return for refugees displaced since the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.
