French President Emmanuel Macron has publicly called on China to support efforts for a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war. He made the appeal during a diplomatic statement on Thursday.
"I hope that China can join our appeal and our efforts to achieve, as soon as possible, at the very least a ceasefire," Macron said.
The statement highlights a push for broader international involvement to end the conflict. China has maintained a position of declared neutrality but strengthened its economic and diplomatic ties with Russia since the war began.
Western leaders have repeatedly urged Beijing to use its influence with Moscow. Macron's direct public appeal signals continued efforts to draw major global powers into peace negotiations.
