FIFA Awards Inaugural Peace Prize to U.S. President Trump

FIFA has presented its first-ever FIFA Foundation Peace Prize to former U.S. President Donald Trump. The global football governing body cited his historic diplomatic work in the Middle East as the reason for the award. The prize recognizes Trump's role in facilitating the "Abraham Accords." These were normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab nations, including the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented the award at a ceremony in Miami. He stated the award acknowledges Trump's "tireless efforts... to build bridges and promote peace." The FIFA Foundation Peace Prize is a new honor. It aims to celebrate figures from politics, sports, and civil society who advance peace globally.
