South Africa: Hundreds sleep outside police station after xenophobic attacks

Xenophobic violence is escalating across South Africa. In Mossel Bay, two Mozambicans were killed and dozens of homes burned in informal settlements. Residents say the attacks targeted specific ethnic groups. Hundreds of people have been displaced, and entire areas lie in ruins. Outside Durban’s Department of Home Affairs, dozens of Congolese nationals remain camped out. They fled their homes after similar xenophobic protests forced them to leave. With nowhere else to go, they now sleep outside the police station for safety.
