China Calls for New World Rules on AI and Space

China has positioned itself as a leading voice for setting new rules in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and outer space. In a policy document released on Wednesday, Beijing called for a “more just and equitable” world order as humanity navigates what it described as “dangerous waters.”
The document, a white paper titled “More Just and Equitable Global Governance: China’s Principles, Proposals and Actions,” states that China will continue to support the United Nations as the central body for global governance in these new frontiers. The paper pitches China as a champion of rule-making for areas that currently lack clear international laws.
