Israeli forces have recovered the bodies of 15 hostages from a tunnel near Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, the military announced.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated the bodies were found during an ongoing operation at the hospital complex. The military claims the site is a major Hamas command center. Hamas denies this.
In total, the IDF says it has retrieved 113 bodies from the area around the hospital in recent days. It did not specify the identities of all the deceased.
The operation at Shifa has been a focal point of intense fighting. The Israeli military says it is targeting Hamas infrastructure. Palestinian officials accuse Israel of attacking a protected medical facility.
The recovery of the bodies marks a grim development in the conflict. Efforts to secure the release of remaining hostages continue through international mediators.
