NATO summit in Ankara: Trump insults Spain, Meloni late, Czechs send deputy

ANKARA. The 32 members of NATO gathered in Ankara this week under a strained atmosphere. US President Donald Trump arrived for the summit hosted by his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. During the meeting, Trump publicly called Spain a “terrible partner.” Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni arrived late to the event. In the Czech Republic, a court had to decide which official would represent the country at the summit. The tense relations among NATO members come at a time when Europe faces a pressing security situation.
