BRUSSELS — The European Union is preparing a new sanctions list targeting up to 1,600 companies that supply Russia’s military industry, according to sources familiar with the matter. The proposal, which has been kept out of public view, comes after Greece blocked a ban on Russian gas, while France and Italy softened an earlier entry ban. The planned list aims to cut off key components and technology used by Moscow in its war effort. Brussels has not yet released the names of the firms or a timeline for final approval.
