Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zeydi was in Turkey for high-level meetings when the United States and Saudi Arabia launched a joint airstrike on positions of the Hashd al-Shaabi, an Iraqi state-backed militia group. The attack killed at least 20 people.
Zeydi canceled his planned visit to Riyadh following the strikes. The timing of the operation, during his diplomatic trip to Ankara, has raised questions about coordination between Baghdad and its allies.
