Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has made a new statement regarding the investigation into the Ahbap aid group, saying that evidence now reveals how the state and the nation were manipulated during the February 6 earthquakes.
“The documents and information that have come to light clearly show everyone what operations were carried out against the state and the nation during the February 6 earthquake process,” Erdoğan said.
His remarks come as authorities investigate Ahbap, a charity founded by popular musician Haluk Levent, which mobilized quickly to provide disaster relief after the devastating quakes that killed more than 50,000 people. The president did not provide specific details about the alleged operations but suggested that those who exploited the disaster for personal gain are now being held accountable.
