The parent company of Malaysia Airlines has announced an aggressive five-year plan to dramatically improve its finances. Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) aims to increase its total revenue by 75% by 2028. The goal is part of a broader restructuring to achieve sustained profitability. The plan focuses on three main areas: growing its core airline business, expanding aviation services, and optimizing its fleet. MAG will also continue to rebuild its network, especially to key destinations in China and India. This new strategy follows a major financial restructuring completed in 2021. That process, known as a "debt restructuring," significantly reduced the group's financial burdens. MAG owns several travel brands. Its main asset is Malaysia Airlines. The group also includes the budget carrier Firefly and an aircraft leasing company. The announcement signals a strong push toward recovery for the national carrier after years of financial difficulty.
