Power has been restored to approximately 110,000 customers in San Francisco after a major outage. The disruption affected large sections of the city on Tuesday.
The utility company, PG&E, reported "significant and extensive" damage at a key substation. This damage caused the widespread loss of electricity.
Due to the severe damage, PG&E could not initially provide an estimate for full restoration. Crews worked through the event to return service. The cause of the substation damage is under investigation.
