Turkish Parliament Speaker Meets with Unaligned Parties

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş has held talks with commission members from two political parties currently without an official parliamentary group. Kurtulmuş met with lawmakers from the Free Cause Party (HÜDA PAR) and the New Welfare Party (YRP). The politicians present were those serving on various parliamentary commissions. In Turkey’s Grand National Assembly, forming a formal group requires at least 20 deputies. Parties below this threshold, like HÜDA PAR and YRP, operate as "independent" parties within the legislature. The meeting is seen as part of the Speaker’s routine duties to ensure the smooth functioning of parliamentary work. It facilitates coordination among all parties represented in the assembly's commission system.
