A 19-year-old French professional soccer player has been severely burned in a fire that killed more than 40 people in Switzerland.
The blaze broke out on New Year’s Eve at an upscale nightclub in a Swiss ski resort. The player, who has not been named, suffered serious injuries.
He is a forward for French Ligue 2 club FC Annecy. The team confirmed he is now receiving hospital treatment.
The fire is one of Europe's deadliest in recent years. Swiss authorities are investigating its cause.
