Drone Victim Finds His Amputation on Russian Social Media

A Ukrainian amputee has found video of the attack that cost him his leg on a Russian military social media channel. Vladislav, 31, shows the footage at a specialist treatment centre in Ukraine. British military doctors and therapists provide support there. The centre uses innovative treatments to aid the recovery of those who have lost limbs. The video, filmed from a fibre-optic drone, shows it closing in with terrifying ease. Vladislav was standing exposed on the back of a buggy. He makes a double whistling noise to describe the drone's ominous approach. "That's me," he says, pointing at the screen as the vehicle slows for a corner. Then the screen goes blank. Before the full-scale invasion in 2022, Vladislav worked as an arbitration lawyer. He now receives care at the rehabilitation centre, where other amputees play volleyball nearby. The work of the international medical team has been described as "truly humbling."
