French President Emmanuel Macron says he will formally request United Nations recognition of a Palestinian state. He announced the plan in an interview with Margaret Brennan for CBS's "Face the Nation."
The move comes as world leaders gather in New York for the start of the UN General Assembly on Monday. France has already taken steps to recognize Palestinian statehood. Macron now seeks to solidify that position through the international body.
