Czech Group Files Third Lawsuit Against Israeli Soldier for Genocide

A human rights group has filed a new criminal complaint in the Czech Republic against an Israeli soldier. The complaint alleges the soldier committed genocide and war crimes in Gaza. The case was submitted by the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF). It marks the group's third such legal filing in a European country. These actions use a legal principle called "universal jurisdiction." This allows national courts to prosecute individuals for severe international crimes, regardless of where the crimes were committed. In a statement, the HRF said this latest move signals a shift in strategy. "With this third filing, HRF is no longer testing legal theory. It is testing state practice," the foundation stated. This suggests the group is now examining whether European states will act on these legal complaints. The Czech authorities must now decide whether to open a formal investigation. The case adds to growing international legal pressure surrounding the conflict in Gaza.
