Hong Kong Man Posed as Official to Rob Elderly, Police Say
Hong Kong police have arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly pretending to be a government officer to burgle elderly residents. The man, surnamed Chan, was arrested in Ta Kwu Ling on Saturday. He is linked to three separate burglaries in December. Police say the crimes happened between December 25 and 29 in the Cheung Sha Wan, Sham Shui Po, and Tuen Mun districts. In each case, the suspect is accused of posing as an official to gain entry to the homes of elderly victims. He allegedly stole a total of HK$20,000 (US$2,570) from the three residences.
