Armed men have abducted students and staff from a school in Nigeria. This attack revives painful memories of past mass kidnappings by militant groups.
No one has claimed responsibility for the latest incident. However, the country has a long history of kidnappings by various networks.
These groups include the militant organization Boko Haram. This group was responsible for the infamous 2014 Chibok schoolgirl abduction. Heavily armed criminal gangs, known locally as bandits, also carry out such attacks.
