A 16-year-old boy in Turkey has been arrested and jailed for sharing a hair braiding tutorial on social media, his lawyer says.
Attorney Edhem Kuruş stated that his client was detained specifically for the video. The teen is now being held in a cell with minors convicted of criminal offenses.
Kuruş reported that the boy has been physically assaulted by these other detainees. The lawyer raised serious concerns about his client's safety and treatment while in custody.
The arrest highlights the severe legal risks surrounding social media use in Turkey. Authorities have not yet publicly detailed the official charges against the teenager.
