For nearly a century, the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre has been a hidden tragedy. The violence destroyed the Greenwood District, a prosperous African American community in Tulsa, Oklahoma, known as "Black Wall Street." A white mob attacked the neighborhood, leading to its destruction by fire. Hundreds of people died, and the thriving business and residential district was left in ruins. The event was largely omitted from public records and history books for decades. Now, a modern-day search for unmarked mass graves aims to provide answers and recognition for the victims.
